
Japan’s art of making products based on outstanding skills and the use of superb materials is world famous.
Four years have passed since the JAPAN BRAND Development Assistance Program was hatched to support the establishment of locally made brands. Since then, new products that represent Japanese traditions have been created and gradually developed into internationally acknowledged brands.
To publicize these new Japanese brands to as many people as possible, the “TOUCH! JAPAN BRAND: Touch Japan and Know Japan” exhibition was held from October 30 to November 3, 2008 in Tokyo’s Omotesando. This exhibition was co-sponsored with “Casa BRUTUS,” a hip furniture and interior magazine.




The items on display were carefully selected from the vast array of JAPAN BRAND products and put together for this occasion, enabling many people to see, touch and feel with their hearts the quality of the JAPAN BRAND. To convey Japan’s genuine art and craftsmanship to the world, JAPAN BRAND will travel to Paris in January, 2009 to display at the “Maison et Objet” exhibition. For centuries, the French have had a profound understanding and appreciation of Japanese culture, from classical Japonism like Ukiyoe, to pop culture including anime and manga.
JAPAN BRAND represents a new Japanese tradition derived from innovative creativity such as Artisan Quality, Practical Beauty and Regional Spirit. We look forward to seeing the fresh impact the JAPAN BRAND will bring to the French and Parisiennes.
